From My Desk to Yours

Do you know how to use gratitude to increase generosity? With this edition of the Stewardship Journal, you will! As we approach Thanksgiving, it’s a great time to look at the value of saying thank you to your donors. Here is a preview of the posts:

Mark Brooks, The Stewardship Coach, starts us out with his post Using Gratitude to Sow Seeds for Future Generosity. Mark states in his opening, “There are many things I would do differently if I were a pastor today. One major thing I would change would be my attitude and approach to gratitude.” He then gives us reasons why we must express gratitude.

Mark follows up on his opening post with a practical post, Key Pointers for Expressing Gratitude. He states, “For years, I have recommended that pastors reach out to donors of all kinds with short, heartfelt thank yous to those who generously give.” Mark then gives short practical tips on how you can do this. It’s easy advice that any pastor of any size church can implement today!

Our final post is Because of Your Generosity. It gives examples of how one church used automated online thank yous to express thanks. All their notes began by saying, “Because of your generosity, we were able to…” They don’t just thank people for giving; they show them what their gift accomplished. This post will show you how your church can do the same thing.
