A Promise You Can Count On

How many of you are ready for the election to be over? I was ready for it to be over before it started! By the time you reach my age, it seems like you have heard all the promises from politicians of every party. “I promise to…, fill in the blank. Rarely do the promises made before Election Day ever become a reality. After a while, we tend to get jaded as politicians’ promises are not something you can count on!

Can I share with you today a promise that you can count on? The Bible says in Malachi 3:10, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” That’s a promise from our heavenly Father, who owns everything.

Do you want another promise? Here is one from Jesus, who said in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” That’s a promise from the One who died for your sins and was raised from the dead and now sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us.

Who are you going to believe? I don’t know about you, but I trust the One who owns it all. His promise to us is that if we are faithful in giving, He will be faithful in return. That is a promise you can count on!
