From the Stewardship Journal Team

The past few weeks’ events have shown the importance of the local church. In times of distress and unrest, it is good to know there is a place we can go to for sanctuary from the storm. Now more than ever, our Nation needs strong churches to show the way forward. One of our goals with this Journal is to help our churches stay strong financially. Our current series, Giving Away the Farm, attempts to provide our churches with the information and tools they need to be ready for the future. Here is a preview of what’s in this edition.

Mark Brooks, The Stewardship Coach, starts us off as usual with a post entitled Leading Leaders to Lead. Mark states “The success or failure of your campaign depends upon whether your leaders step up to lead your church.” Why is leading your leaders important? In a typical capital campaign, they will give around 90% of all that is given. Mark’s post begins paving the road for not only why we need to stay connected to this group but how.

Mark’s Bonus Section is the “how to” page of the Journal. This week’s is no exception as Mark takes a page out of his campaign playbook to show one way to connect your vision to your leaders. The Bonus Section is entitled An Overview of a Leadership Meeting. That might not sound exciting until you need to stand before your leadership trying to “sell” your next project. This play sheet will guide you through what to say.

Finally, Mark has reworked a blog post from a few years back entitled What Motivates Christians to Give? It’s based on an old Barna study, and the findings might surprise you. Mark shares what this means for church leaders when it comes to helping our leaders embrace the vision of the project.

Finance Team? Have you considered sending the Journal to your key committees and teams? Pastor, I would also make sure your staff is forwarded this email. It’s easy to do as all posts are accessible at https://stewardshipjournal.com. Let’s ensure that our churches are financially sound with up-to-date buildings for the 2030s. This series will give you the advice and tools to do just that.

In Jesus’ name!
