From the Desk of Our Executive Director
Can you believe we are now officially into fall? This is one of the busiest times of the year for churches as families have returned from summer break, and the typical church calendar fills up with events and programs. This can put a strain on your budget, making your end-of-year more of a financial challenge. We have your back with this edition of the Stewardship Journal.
To start your planning, Mark Brooks,’ The Stewardship Coach, column is entitled A Winning Fourth Quarter Plan for Giving. In that post, he states, “Winning coaches know the importance of the fourth quarter, and they plan ahead of time. Most teams have what is called The Two Minute Drill. It is a preset arrangement of plays designed to position the team for a last-minute, or sometimes last-second, win.” He then states, “As your Stewardship Coach, I want to help you create and execute a winning plan for your end-of-year giving.” His column will help you achieve your best 4th quarter of giving.
Do you have a plan for your end-of-year giving offering? Our Bonus Section, entitled A Winning 4th Quarter Plan of Action, gives you an overview of end-of-year planning. You will find suggestions for the next couple of months through the year’s end. Use this page to help your team create your winning, end-of-year giving plan.
Are you being a good steward of your future? A 2019 Lifeway Research study found that “3 in 4 (76%) retirement-age ministers are confident they will have enough money to live comfortably through retirement, with 31% saying they are very confident. Still, almost half (47%) say they are often concerned about their family’s financial security. And 27% say their physical needs, or those of their spouse, have caused significant financial strain.” We asked longtime MBC pastor, Richie Rhea, to weigh in on planning for retirement. His post is entitled You Might Need to Ask.
Thank you for reading the Stewardship Journal. We exist to help you create a culture of generosity built around biblical principles of stewardship ensuring that your church will be financially sound and able to continue,
