From the Desk of Our Executive Director

Welcome to another edition of the Stewardship Journal.

We have been focusing on setting up a summer giving plan to help you avoid any slump in giving. We start this edition of the Journal with our lead post, Why May is a Good Time to Focus on Recurring Giving. According to a recent Lifeway Research survey, only 8% of American churchgoers have set up their giving to be recurring. This post shares with you how to see an increase in recurring giving, helping offset any decline in summer giving.

Mark Brooks, The Stewardship Coach, recently gave a talk for the Executive Committee’s retreat of state convention CP and stewardship leaders. Mark shares with us the main points of his talk in his column entitled The Future of the American Church. It’s an informative article that every SBC church should read and respond to. We are facing some challenging days, and Mark points out the path to sustain your church through those days.

Remember, you now have access to hundreds of offering talks ready for you to download. See the end of Mark’s column for the link to this week’s Mother’s Day message.

This week’s Bonus Section, entitled How to Make May Recurring Giving Sign-Up Month, gives you various samples you can use to increase the number of your members signing up for recurring giving. Recurring giving is perhaps the best way to ensure that all your missions and ministry initiatives for the summer are fully funded. The Bonus Section shows you how to encourage people to sign up.

Now is the time to get ready to beat the typical summer slump in giving! We at the Journal are here to help. If you know of someone that would like to receive the Journal, please send them this link for easy signup https://mobaptist.org/stewardship/stewardship-journal/.
