From the Desk of Our Executive Director

The SBC’s Ticking Time Bomb is our lead article written by our Stewardship Coach, Mark Brooks. Mark has been working on a presentation for a retreat the Executive Committee of the SBC is putting on for all the state convention CP/Stewardship leaders. This article, a part of his presentation, is shared publicly first with you. You will find it is an alarming wake-up call to action. Here is a line that captures what your leadership of the MBC is working to provide you with the Stewardship Journal resource. Mark wrote about the coming crisis, “What can you do? Keep reading the Stewardship Journal. I’ve been to every state convention website, and the Missouri Baptist Convention is doing more to prepare its member churches financially than all the rest!” We will take that compliment and keep working harder!

Mark continues his series on Easter offering preparation with his Stewardship Coach column entitled The Keys to An Effective Easter Offering. I love that his focus is not only on raising dollars, as important as that is, but on how to use the Easter offering to attract new givers. After reading our lead post, you’ll better understand the need for raising new donors.

This week’s Bonus Section is entitled How Digital Giving Opens Doors. This is a great follow-up piece to our last week’s opening post about how digital commerce and digital giving is on the rise. It is another in-depth look at the recent study, Meet the Digital Donor, produced by the Barna Group. The post makes three observations and three suggestions about digital giving.

If you have been watching the news, you will see much insecurity in our country. The economy seems on everyone’s mind, and this week’s Mission and Ministry Moment talk, Your Security Begins with Your Generosity, addresses this issue.

Remember, starting in March, we will be moving all Missions and Ministry talks away from the weekly Stewardship Journal site. There is an explanation at the start of this week’s section explaining how to access hundreds of offering talks, all for free.
