The Stewardship Journal continues to help pastors and church leaders build a platform of stewardship. We are nearing the end of our second year and looking forward to continuing to provide you with the best stewardship advice with the Stewardship Journal. Here is a preview of this week’s Journal.
“We are at a difficult time at our church due to a major employer in our area laying off and cutting salaries. We’ve lost core families, and our financial base is much smaller.” That statement came to us in an email asking for help. We took that question and addressed it in our lead post entitled What to do When Giving is in Decline.
Next, Mark Brooks, The Stewardship Coach, writes a post entitled The Back Door of Church Giving. We typically think of attendance declines when we think of a church’s back door. Mark points out that with the loss of attendance also comes a loss in giving. Then, as always, he gives practical advice on how to minimize the results of your back door.
Mark picks up on his end-of-year advice with this week’s Bonus Section entitled The Coach’s Suggested Action List for Using Social Media for End-of-Year Giving.” Americans of all ages use social media and it’s a great way to get your story and message out. Mark shows you how.
Do you pray before you take up the offering? Most of us do. However, do you ever ask people to pray for the offering? This week’s Mission and Ministry moment, entitled Let’s Pray FOR the Offering, encourages your members to pray about what God would have them give.
Come meet the Coach! Last week I announced that Mark Brooks, The Stewardship Coach, will be with us at our annual meeting on October 24-25. Mark will be at our Cooperative Program booth, answering any questions you might have.
Send us your questions, which might be the theme of a future Journal. You can email Rob Phillips at firstname.lastname@example.org.
