From My Desk To Yours

From My Desk To Yours

Happy Martin Luther King Day!

Welcome to another edition of the Stewardship Journal. Before I share with you the contents of this week’s newsletter, I wanted to inform you of further stewardship resources available to you for free and how you can access those materials. From offering talks to playbooks designed to give you a giving strategy throughout the year, the Stewardship Journal has you covered. Our state convention is making these tools available to you. Here is how to access these resources:

  • First, go to the Stewardship Journal site at https://stewardshipjournal.com/
  • Look in the upper right corner of the site for the link that says ‘Resources’ and click on it.
  • Fill out the ‘Create an Account’ information. Your Username can be your email or any other name you assign. Create your own password and be sure to write it down for the future.
  • Where it asks for an invite code, use this code: SBCSJ2024!
  • In the final box, select our state convention.

This gives you the ability to preview and download this valuable information. You are free to edit the materials to fit your church’s culture and context.

Tune in to our weekly podcast this week to hear our interview with Mark Brooks, The Stewardship Coach. It will be posted around 8pm Monday night here: https://mbcb.org/podcasts/.

Now, here is a preview of this week’s Journal.

Mark Brooks leads off this week’s Journal with a post entitled The Fundamentals of Effective Offerings. Mark states his position with this sentence, “When it comes to building a culture of generosity built upon biblical stewardship, the fundamental foundation is the offering.” This post will show you how to build that foundation.

“Because the easiest, quickest, and frankly most enjoyable way to increase giving is by taking your offering time to the next level.”That’s a quote from Mark’s Bonus Section entitled Five Fundamental Keys on How to Receive the Offering. Find out how to take your offerings to the next level.

Our final post, How to Take the Offering, is written by Dr. Ronnie Floyd and is taken from his book, Ten Percent: A Call to Biblical Stewardship. Dr. Floyd shares how he approached setting up the offering and gives an example of how it’s done.

Thanks again for taking the time to read the Stewardship Journal. Help us spread the word to other pastors in our state and let us know how the Journal is helping you.

In Jesus’ name!

Dr. Shawn Parker
