Showers of Blessings

Remember the old saying, “April showers will bring May flowers?” Spring rains are essential not simply for the growth of flowers but for all agriculture. There is something refreshing about a spring shower! It clears the air and brings life.

As I thought about that popular phrase it reminded me of the old hymn entitled There Shall Be Showers of Blessing. The words to the hymn were…

There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.

Refrain:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers, we plead.

Did you know that God has promised us showers of blessing? In Ezekiel 34: 26 He promises Israel that if they are obedient to Him, “there will be showers of blessing.” I don’t know about you, but I could use some showers of blessing!

Do you know that one way to assure a shower of blessing from God is through giving? The Scripture teaches us that when we tithe/give, God will, “throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have enough for it.” Now that is a shower of blessing!

When you give here you are not just sowing seeds of blessing for your own life but also in the lives of others that we impact through our missions and ministries. So, let’s shower the offering today in thanks for the showers of blessings God gives us!
