From the Desk of Our Executive Director

Welcome to another Stewardship Journal. July has always been a challenging time for giving. We believe the contents of the Journal will help you navigate your way through this time successfully.

Here is a preview of this week’s Stewardship Journal.

Have you started working on next year’s budget? Then our lead post, entitled The Number One Reason Churches Fail to Make Their Budget, is for you. Our team breaks down how this one mistake dooms church budgets before they are enacted. For the next few issues, we will be talking about budget preparation.

Mark Brooks, The Stewardship Coach, continues his series in this edition on closing the giving gap coming out of summer with a come-from-behind strategy. Mark’s post this week is entitled The Importance of a Leader’s First Strategy. Mark shares the importance of how your leaders are the key to any giving strategy and gives you practical advice on how to link your vision to your leaders.

This week’s Bonus Section is a sample letter showing you the best way to motivate your leaders in a close-the-gap giving strategy. Feel free to edit any of our samples to fit your context and need or simply view what is written to help give you ideas on how to do something similar.

This week’s Mission and Ministry offering section is entitled What Are You Willing to Give Up? The “talk” uses a study showing what people are willing to give up for a vacation by asking what we are willing to give to see lives changed. With vacation on the minds of so many, it is a timely talk to position your offering for success.
