From the Desk of Our Executive Director

Welcome to another Stewardship Journal!

All of us as Southern Baptists grieve the findings from the recent Guidepost report. We as a Convention have some difficult decisions to make in the coming days. I am confident that we will do the right thing and I am prayerful that it will bring healing to our entire Convention. What will be the long-term impact of this? Mark Brooks has been a key member of our Stewardship Journal team and he takes up the impact of this in our lead issue, How Will This Impact Giving.

Let me say that in no way are we minimizing the pain of what has happened with this article. But we would be mistaken to think that controversy such as this does not impact giving. Our desire with the Stewardship Journal is to provide you with practical, useful help to increase giving. I believe you will find Mark’s article a great help as all of us navigate through this difficult time. Our Great Commission focus is worthy of full support and Mark gives us great advice on how to move forward.

Here is a preview of the rest of the Stewardship Journal.

In his Stewardship Coach column, Mark continues his series on church building and capital campaigns with a post entitled Avoiding the Common Mistakes in Project Planning.

This week’s Bonus Section is entitled The Formula for a Successful Capital Campaign. Here is a key quote, “The winning formula for a successful campaign is Information + Inspiration + Time = Success. If you want to raise maximum dollars you need to adhere to this formula.”

This week’s Mission and Ministry offering section is entitled Father’s Day Gifts. As we often do, this talk takes a popular holiday and helps you use it for motivating people to give. We believe that positioning your offering time with talks like this will help you increase giving.

Remember, if you know of someone who would like to receive the Journal, please send them this link for easy signup – https://mobaptist.org/stewardship/stewardship-journal/.

Finally, please continue to be in prayer for our entire Southern Baptist family as we navigate through these challenging days. I’m convinced that our greatest days are ahead.

Advancing the Gospel!
